An Overview Of Motorcycle Insurance

Wednesday, August 25th, 2010

Keep in mind that with any insurance policy, including Motorcycle Insurance, there is usually a deductible that has to be paid before the insurance company will pay the rest of the claim. At least you get to choose how much deductible so it can make for more affordable motorcycle insurance, but make sure you have it in the bank just in case you need it. Otherwise, Comprehensive and Collision coverage are going to pay for things when you have a wreck, regardless of who is at fault.

Here is a little example. You are moving right along and hit a car, then a telephone pole, bounce off it and take out a fence and sail over something else that is non-living. Do not worry, your Collision policy will cover it.

Another scenario is where you hit an animal and crossed the road hitting a car and then a fence, then a river starts overflowing and floods your bike. While you swim to shore someone comes along and beats the heck out of your bike, steals it, then sets fire to it. Your Comprehensive coverage will pay the loss.

A person was injured during all that and had medical expenses when you took out the fence. Your Bodily Injury and Property Damage Liability just went into action and paid the bill, for the amount under the total limit you set up when you bought the policy. Remember when you choose liability limits that if the bill goes over that limit it could cost you everything over that, even your other assets.

While all of the above chaos was going on, you got hurt and you look forward to the next three years of medical care, because your Medical Payments Coverage goes into the game and picks up the expenses. At least it does if you are not in one of those states that require other forms of insurance are exhausted, first. Do not forget there is a limit this will pay, so ask many questions as to how this works.

This time you you get stranded on the side of the road with a breakdown, electrical this time. You call the 800 number and they send a repair truck from the nearest qualified repair garage. You have nothing to worry about, your Roadside Assistance just picked up the bill and you did not have to hand over a coin. But, wait a minute. After you get on your way, you become stranded. In the mud, snow, sand and the trailer you are pulling behind your bike has a wheel lock down. This is simply not a problem. Your coverage is still going to pay for it all. Every hour, every day you have the coverage you paid for to get you quickly back on your way from any roadside problems.

Here is another story about someone who really decked their rig out with lots of neat stuff and looks way cool, but some where along the way something goes missing and you turn in a claim. Sure enough, it was covered under the Accessory coverage you bought just before you signed the dotted line. Now you are glad you did, it just covered this claim.

Now for the disclaimer. No fences, animals, people or motorcycles were harmed, injured or in any way destroyed in the above stories. They were just glimpses into the possible future to make a person think before they buy Motorcycle Insurance.

If you own a motorcycle, then you definitely need to compare motorcycle insurance. There are many motor bike insurance quotes waiting for you right now.

Auto Insurance Laws – What You Should Know

Thursday, July 29th, 2010

When considering your insurance policy, you have to take into account the state laws. Specifically, what is the minimum coverage, and what types of coverage are required.

To answer these questions, call your insurance agent. They will have all the best information about state and regional laws that involve you and your vehicle. It’s their job to know all this and help you with it. Before you call, make sure you have all your questions ready so you don’t forget.

Basic rule is that each state has a minimum requirement for the auto insurance coverage you need to have for certain situations. The three types of coverage is injury to another, injury to all people, and damage to property.

If you are going to travel out of state, check out what auto insurance coverage you will need. Call the rep of your insurance company and verify the coverage you need. Be sure if you are traveling through multiple states, find the strictest one and change your coverage to that one for the time being.

States have different liability laws involving motor cycles and scooters. If you’re strapped for cash and you can’t afford insurance, simply check out the state’s laws about these vehicles. In Washington, you don’t need insurance to drive a motorcycle.

You must keep proof of insurance on you at all times. If you were pulled over, you are required to provide it. If you don’t, then you must appear in court and show proof or you will be fined heavily. Appearing in court is not a fun thing to do, be sure you have your proof at all times.

You are the one responsible for staying within the driving laws of your state. In all states, it is considered a privilege, not a right, to drive and have a drivers license.

When the two wheeler gets stolen, the losses are provided for by the insurance plan. When the two wheeler gets damaged in transit via a rail, road or air route, losses incurred are provided for by the insurance plan.

This type of insurance will also provide for the medical bills when a third party gets injured in an accident which involves the owner of the two wheeler. The two wheeler insurance will provide for the medical expenses which are incurred when the owner gets injured in some accident.

The two wheeler insurance plan also compensates for the expenses incurred by the owner on the repair or the replacement of the vehicle. When the wheels get damaged in any event, the replacement cost is paid by the insurance company.

Two wheeler insurance plans will not cover any type of losses incurred because of normal wear and tear or depreciation in the value of the vehicle. Any damages that are caused to the vehicle because of drunken driving are not covered by the insurance plan. Also any damages caused intentionally are not covered by any insurance plan.

Since there are many companies which offer different types of insurance plans, it must be ensured that the person planning to buy this type of insurance compares the available plans. Tips On Cheap Motorcycle Insurance

Sunday, June 27th, 2010

The temperature is rising every day and motorcycle riders are getting excited for the warm wind blowing in their faces while they ride. Sadly, some riders may be considering leaving the bike in the garage this year because they cannot afford their motorcycle insurance. A smart shopper can find a rate that does not empty their wallet and get on the road before summer.

The rate that a motorcycle insurance company will quote a rider depends on a number of factors. One of those factors is the year, make and model of the bike they are riding. Someone who is trying to secure a lower rate may want to consider an older, basic bike instead of the newest and flashiest model.

Another thing that can help someone get cheap motorcycle insurance is their current driving record. This means their record for driving their car, not just their motorcycle. All kinds of driving count when it comes to insurance, so riders looking for the best rate need to be on their best road behavior at all times.

Someone who wants to save money on bike insurance can do a few things to help themselves out. Insurance companies are much more willing to give a cheaper rate to a driver who keeps their bike secure. This might mean parking it in a garage or putting an alarm on it if it must be parked on the street.

Drivers can receive a better rate for insurance if they take a defensive driving class, and the same thing applies for motorcycles. The Department of Motor Vehicles offers safety classes for motorcycle riders and the completion of one may help someone get the cheapest motorcycle insurance. Just be sure to get a certificate of completion to present to the insurance company.

People who take their motorcycles everywhere may be charged more for insurance than those who only ride for pleasure in the summertime. If the cost of insuring the bike is cause for concern, think about just using the bike less. If a rider can keep their mileage low, they will have a much easier time keeping their insurance rate low.

Nobody should have to miss out on the joy of riding their bike because the cost of motorcycle insurance is too much. Once a rider knows what companies look for, they can take steps to make themselves the kind of rider an insurance company would love to work with. Instead of suffering in a hot car for the next three months, find lower insurance and enjoy the open air.
