Here’s How I’ve Accumulated A Personal Mini-Fleet And I’m Covered With Convenient Fleet Insurance

Thursday, October 14th, 2010

I have four cars which I have acquired over the years. I used to insure them separately, but I have now spoken to an insurance broker who has informed me that I am able to insure them using a fleet policy, meaning all the cars are under one policy. This means I am now able to renew them at once, saving time, and meaning there is only one annual premium charge, which is much cheaper than using separate policies for each car.

My original car was small, and was only used to transport me from A to B. I bought it after having to ride my bike to work, and although I loved it, it was impractical because I lived at the top of the hill, and I couldn’t drive up in snow.

As a result of frustration at being snowed in I bought a four-wheel drive. Although this is a brilliant car, I couldn’t sell my old one, and still use it for small tasks such as trips to the supermarket. However, I began to realise that the search for two cheap insurance policies was too time consuming.

After the other two vehicles, I bought a van for work. When I had to insure it, I consulted an insurance broker, and he surprised me by saying that fleet insurance does not only cater for companies with hundreds of vehicles, but that I could take out a policy with my three vehicles. It also was not a problem that my vehicles were different types, apparently you can mix and match your vehicles and insure them under the same policy. Also, alongside this policy I got a discounted price on my RAC breakdown cover.

After my wife began driving, I was shocked and pleased to be told that her car could also be added to my fleet insurance policy. I cannot imagine how difficult and time consuming it would be to find four separate policies. You should speak to your local broker if your household has three or more vehicles but fewer drivers than cars, and they will be able to arrange a fleet policy, meaning you could save both time and money.

Truck Insurance fleet insurance Now we’ve grown up and moved out, but we still love it now, although it has become quite old and a little unreliable. This information should be supplied by your existing insurer. Also either ask the friend to turn a light on in the evening, or set a timer to do this for you.

Get The Right Insurance For The Vehicles That Mean Something To You To Avoid Heartbreak

Monday, October 11th, 2010

We used to sit in the back of my Dad’s truck outside the house, and we loved it. We loved it when we were very young, and even when we had grown up and moved out. By this point the truck had aged a few years and was prone to breaking down. Dad insured his truck, and included breakdown cover for the times we were left without a working vehicle. Those picnics on the side of the road while we waited for the RAC were actually quite fun!

When an uninsured driver hit the truck we were obviously all worried, but Dad was fine. The truck, on the other hand, was less fortunate. After remembering the lectures to me and my siblings about insurance, I realised there wasn’t going to be a problem. When I was younger and my parents made me get fully comp insurance I was very annoyed, and didn’t see the point, but now, 3 claims on, it has saved my on several occasions.

Next week the news came. The truck was dead. The insurance company hadn’t let us down; there was a shiny new truck outside, in the old truck’s place. My brothers and I were not impressed. It wasn’t the same at all. Dad of course was very happy. He’d made sure he had the right cover and over the years it had paid for itself in jobs he hadn’t missed and now the truck he could still drive.

I now force my children to have full insurance on their vehicles as well as having it on the truck (which I inherited!). The truck isn’t as shiny anymore, and its main job is transporting the eldest child to and from university. We have breakdown cover within the insurance, because if on one of these trips, the truck broke down, we would be useless in trying to get it going again!

I get a broker to find me the best insurance now Dad doesn’t do it anymore. He searches through all the policies and all I have to do is call up if I need anything. If you have a truck that you want to protect, then get the correct insurance by discussing it with a good insurance broker.

I soon had to buy a van for work, to accompany my small car and the four-wheel drive. For those frequent times when the car breaks down, Dad arranged breakdown cover through his truck insurer. The truck is now mine, but it isn’t as shiny as it used to be! Caravan Insurance caravan insurance

Here’s A Few Simple Reasons Why You Should Consider Shopping Around For Fleet Insurance

Sunday, October 10th, 2010

Well done on your expanding business – you now qualify for a fleet insurance policy! Your broker will have negotiated a fleet rate for you, and although you no longer qualify for a “no claims bonus”, you renewal will be based on the claims you have made in the past year.

When you come to renew your insurance, are you expecting a hefty increase? Are you going to shop around?

You may not be shopping around because it is hard work, and the likelihood is your broker won’t shop around for you either. However it is a good idea to shop around as this is the easiest way to save money.

Planning at least six weeks in advance of your renewal is the only way of making the best savings. You also need to let your broker know that you need competitive quotes, and if he doesn’t comply, you should find another broker or get the quotes for yourself.

It’s not just as simple as giving yourself six weeks though. Most importantly any insurer is going to need the full details of your claims for the last three years. They are going to want to know the amounts of each claim, what it related to (theft / accident with your driver at fault / accident with your driver not at fault etc). In this last case it is important to know that the third party insurer paid for the damage. This information should be supplied by your existing insurer. If they are reluctant to supply it, insist, you are entitled to the information.

If you are going to an alternative broker, he will need you to collate all of the details of your vehicles, make, model, where they are stored overnight and so on. You’ll need to collate the details of all of your drivers, age, sex, driving licence details, driving convictions, so get all your drivers to represent their driving licences so that you can check the information. Your existing broker should want to have the latest driver information from you in any case, so this is not going to be wasted effort.

When using fleet insurance, your administration is simplified, and although it can be difficult to get the best deal at renewal, it can be very convenient.

Make sure you know the amounts of each claim, and which event each amount is related to. Fleet Insurance fleet insurance Once I was on work experience with Dad on the way to a big job when the truck broke down. If they are reluctant to supply it, insist, you are entitled to the information.

You Can Reduce Your Auto Insurance Premiums With These Five Tips

Sunday, October 3rd, 2010

Are you looking for ways to lower your auto insurance premium? Auto insurance rates can spiral depending upon factors that include your age, past driving record, and other factors such as credit history. However, the trick is to find ways to lower the annual premium. We have come up with five ways in which you can achieve this and lower your premiums.

Hike up your deductible

It may be better if you go for a higher amount out of the pocket rather than going for the lowest deductible. Deductible can be defined as the amount paid before the start of your insurance policy. This is an easy way to reduce your periodic premium amount. However, be warned that if something happens to your vehicle you need to shell out more to cover the initial expenses prior to going in for a claim.

Leave Your Car Parked At The Garage

You can leave your vehicle parked at any garage located at shopping malls, or other commercial and personal establishments. This could help reduce close to 20% of the premium. Of course, you don’t run the same risks of getting your car damaged if it’s parked at a garage. This could possibly be a telling factor when choosing between a preferred and standard rate, to use a more technical point of view.

Look For The Cheapest Option

Nothing beats the traditional ‘shop around to get a bargain’ approach. Research extensively and come up with at least three price quotes when looking for an insurance provider. Make sure as well that you are evaluating their whole deal and not just the price.

Take a Defensive Driving Course

Not many people are aware of this. By volunteering for a state-approved defensive driving course, you can get discounts in your premium of up to 10%. Ask your insurance provider first, though, if you have made the right choice.

Reducing Your Coverage

Well, downsizing coverage is perhaps the easiest way to lower your auto insurance premium. But we advise you to exercise discretion if you should go this route. This might save money, but would also limit coverage.

What Is The Average Cost Of Auto Insurance?

Saturday, October 2nd, 2010

How much do the majority of people shell out for auto insurance? That is really a tough question. It is based for the most part on where you reside, instead of on the type of auto you own, as many believe.

For example, if you live out in the country you’ll almost certainly end up paying less for cover then if you were to live right in the heart of a city. This is simply because if you were living in a city, there’s more chance that your car would be involved in an accident.

Insurance providers look at a number of factors as far as their premiums are concerned. The biggest influence however is the amount of risk involved which could see them having to pay a claim.

According to the National Association of Insurance Commissioners, the average cost of car insurance has dropped by 1%. Their statistics were obtained by comparing insurance prices in the ten most expensive and least expensive states.

There is a significant difference between the highest and the lowest. The average expenditure per capita in Washington DC is about a thousand dollars a year. The average in North Dakota is $530, which is less than 50%.

If you’re considering moving in order to benefit from lower insurance rates, then you’d do well to consider moving to Nebraska, Wisconsin, Kansas, North Carolina, or South Dakota. In these states, one can usually acquire fully comprehensive car insurance for under $600 per year.

On a slightly different note; while car insurance may be quite cheap in North Carolina, home insurance isn’t, but that’s because the region is prone to hurricane damage. What I’m getting at here is that there are several things you need to look at before you decide to relocate.

Among the states that have the most elevated rates are Nevada, Delaware, Florida, New York and New Jersey. Each year, the expenditures in the indicated states top $1000.

Even within a particular state, different cities have different rates. What this means is that a state’s average rate will inevitably be driven up by the high rates in certain cities. Only two years ago, car owners living in Detroit were paying as much as $5,000 per year for insurance.

However, the median amount statewide was under $1000. Michigan is big in size, possessing a lot of rural regions. If you live out in the countryside your premiums will be lower than in a populated area such as Detroit.

Gap Insurance For Contract Hire Car Leasing Security – We Outline The Numerous Benefits That Gap Insurance Grants

Friday, October 1st, 2010

Many individuals regard automobile leasing as a privilege of business. Yet private individuals are additionally increasingly turning to automotive leasing as a substitute for buying. Automotive leasing is probably more easily related in people’s minds with business because it is seen to involve expensive cars being driven with out sentimental attachment or any need for long-term ownership. Additionally it is typically perceived as a convenience that necessitates the kind of money only companies can afford to splash around. These perceptions nevertheless are fairly misleading on a number of levels.

* Firstly, car leasing is cheaper than most individuals realise, since lease payments are primarily based on a vehicle’s depreciation during the lease interval rather than on its general value.

* Secondly, many private drivers today are less prone to stick to an older automobile just for sentimental reasons, and will probably be as ruthless as any businessman or woman in opting to lease a more recent model, should the opportunity arise.

Thirdly, though automobile leasing often entails returning the car on the end of the lease interval, there are a number of leasing options that allow deferred vehicle purchasing. If a business or private individual feels at the outset that it is perhaps beneficial to keep a car after the rent interval has ended, a voluntary or obligatory purchase contract may be drawn up in advance.

All these reasons make completely different kinds of car leasing equally viable for people and businesses. Private individuals are more than welcome at most big leasing companies where you will find some great value car leasing packages on offer. When discussing the options for car leasing with a consumer, a reputable leasing firm will advise on measures to help take care of certain risks. One such danger-averting measure is to take out gap insurance.

Gap insurance coverage is not the same as standard third party or fully comprehensive motor insurance (which the client must additionally pay). Gap insurance coverage is optional but it covers an important side of car leasing that normal motor insurance cannot: the customer’s contracted financial commitments to the leasing company.

The customer’s agreed month-to-month payments are based on the anticipated depreciation of the automobile over the lease period. Should a lease car suffer complete loss by theft, or write-off, normal insurance will compensate the leasing company, by way of the automotive user’s insurance, for the perceived worth of the vehicle just prior to the loss.

Standard insurance coverage however can’t guarantee that the funds already received by the vehicle leasing company from the customer will have covered the vehicle’s depreciation thus far. That is particularly true early on in the lease period since a car might lose proportionally more of its value at the beginning of its life than towards the end.

Gap insurance is designed to cover any shortfall between the depreciation amount a customer has already paid and the actual depreciation level on the time of the vehicle loss. Without gap insurance the client could be contractually obliged to make up this difference out of his or her own pocket.
